VISION

We envision a Los Angeles where jazz and creative music live fully in the public square. Guided by the spirit of the Black ARTsthetic Movement, and built through a true Coalition of Communities, REBEL.JAZZ.FESTS brings artists and audiences together in shared civic spaces to celebrate the past, present, and future of creative music. Our work reflects a living practice of RETRO.AFRO.FUTURISM — looking back to cultural memory while pushing creative possibility forward.

MISSION

THE NONSEMBLE Creative Collective produces REBEL.JAZZ.FESTS to present adventurous jazz and interdisciplinary art in free, family-friendly public spaces across Los Angeles. Inspired by the legacy of the Black ARTsthetic Movement, and guided by a Coalition of Communities approach rooted in collaboration and mutual respect, we support artists who honor the history of the music while expanding its future through the practice of RETRO.AFRO.FUTURISM.

Jazz has always been rebellious music — built by communities, shaped by experimentation, and carried forward by artists willing to imagine new worlds. Our work embraces the cultural legacy of the Black ARTsthetic Movement, builds a Coalition of Communities that reflects the diversity of Los Angeles, and practices RETRO.AFRO.FUTURISM — honoring the past while creating the future.
